MGH:
Hi.
I really liked the topic and the project a lot. The topic in general was very useful, but I felt like we didn’t use it as much as we could have, it seemed like we only learned 25% of what was possible, though it doesn’t matter too much. Coaching is a great topic because it teaches us how to communicate better, connect with each other, and feel more empathy.

I really liked how the project was quite personal overall, with everyone sharing their feelings. On the downside, some sessions were a bit childish, which the older participants really didn’t like.

They took a week off work thinking this would be a serious, one-week coaching exercise, and you could definitely see they were frustrated by that. Also, some sessions were very long, lasting until 10 or 11 PM.
IVA:
Hi, Iβm Iva! π From 31 August to 6 September, I had the opportunity to participate in the Practicing Coaching and Guiding Training Course in the beautiful town of Ommen, the Netherlands. πΏ

The project brought together around 30 youth workers, facilitators and aspiring coaches from the Netherlands, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Italy, France, Georgia, Greece and Croatia. ππ€
Even though I didn’t have much previous experience with coaching, this was the perfect opportunity to learn, connect with others and exchange perspectives! π¬π‘

π My biggest takeaways?
β¨ Stay curious about other people and their experiences.
β¨ Instead of imposing your own thoughts and solutions, ask thoughtful questions that help others find answers that work for them.
β¨ Sometimes, the best way to support someone is simply to listen. π
And, of course, it wasn’t all about learning! We danced a lot, laughed even more π and explored the surroundings. In our free time, some of us visited a local farm π, the Sahara of Ommen ποΈ, Eerde Castle π° and a music festival in the town πΆ.
I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity, all the wonderful people I met and everything I learned. π«Ά I’m looking forward to putting these insights into practice beyond the project!
